Zuehl Airfield was developed in 1932 as an auxilary field for Randolph Army Air Base . Zuehl Flying community hasn't been around that long but we are looking forward to the next 75 years. And what do people at flying communities do? Go flying! I will try to keep up with a list of fly-ins that are in the future from near-by and regional. For instance, Bob Padgett, Lonnie Pense, Jack Buckley (from San Marcos), and Chad and Erin Holliday (from Heritage) flew to Critter's Lodge Fly-in on September 21 - 23. This is a little-known fly-in in east Texas on a private ranch with a 3100 ft grass runway. Camping is along the runway under tall oak trees. Facilities include flush toilets, and hot solar showers and meals served from Friday evening to Sunday breakfast. Other than the flying in and camping, there is nothing more than visiting and meeting new people. Here is a place to unplug, slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. This will become another "Reklaw" in the near future. The hosts, Windell and Beverly Dillard, go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to be sure you have everything you need to have a fun weekend. The identifier is TE01 and is "Dillard" on the Houston sectional. Located 11 miles east of Centerville or around 170 miles northeast of Zuehl. http://www.airnav.com/airport/TE01
